To many of us the word budget means spend what you like and worry about it later! Take a tip… clever budgeting for your wedding will help keep your stress levels down. So get to it!

One of the deciding factors in setting your budget will be your guests. How many people are you hoping to invite? You could end up with a lot of mouths to feed so nutting out your guest list should be one of the first things you do. Then dig out your calculator and start doing your sums.

When estimating your budget, here some fairly tried and true percentages that may help you work things out.

  • Reception – Site Fee – Bar and Beverage – Catering - Wedding Cake 30%
  • Clothing – Gown – Headpiece/veil Lingerie – Shoes - Groom`s attire – Attendants (flowergirls etc)
  • Hair and Makeup 11%
  • Photography and Video – Photos and Album – Videography 9%
  • Music Ceremony music – reception – Band or DJ 5%
  • Flowers Ceremony site flowers – Bridal bouquet and Wedding Party - Reception Centerpieces 5%
  • Engagement Ring – 9%
  • Jewellery Wedding Rings and other jewellery 4%
  • Stationery Save the Dates – Invitations – Thank You Notes – Postage 3%
  • Favours and Gifts Bomboniere – Attendant and Wedding Party Gifts – Gifts for each other 3%
  • Transportation Limo – Vehicles for the Wedding Party 2%
  • Ceremony Marriage Licence – Church/synagogue – Officiant 3%
  • Honeymoon First night accommodation – package deal/air fares - accommodation – spending money 16%
